One line per day

Every day starts with the same line: the date, a scale from 0 to 4 and three boxes – rest, eating, work. Below it the medication with its dose, morning, midday and evening to tick off, next to it the temperature, then the meals and lines for everything else. On the far right a box for initials: whoever made the entry signs it off.

The scale doesn’t have to be about coughing – lameness, itching, free faecal water: you name it yourself, and the boxes and meals too. Leave out what you don’t need: medication, temperature, the feed line, the plans at the front.

The logbook runs from the month you choose, for three, six or twelve months; half a year fits the stabling season from October to March. The name is at the top of every page.

The diary

Flocke’s diary has only days and lines, and note pages at the back instead of the tables. You decide what goes in: what you did together, how it went, what the riding instructor said. If you like, add a mood from ‘awful’ to ‘great’.

For the yard

Every horse gets its own logbook. Who made the entry is there as initials on every day; who should come is at the front in the ‘Who comes when’ plan. For the next horse you open a finished logbook in your account, change the name and photo and create it – everything else stays as it was.
