Every animal gets its own book

Nando has a logbook with everything in it, Flocke a diary, Ueli a health log for the stabling season. The name is on the cover – with a photo if you like – and at the top of every page. That way even a loose sheet in the binder always belongs to the right animal.

Seven days on two pages

Every day has the same line: a scale from 0 to 4, rest, eating and work to tick off, the medication with its dose, the temperature and the meals from morning to evening. Below it room for everything else, on the right a box for initials.

  • You name the scale, the boxes and the meals yourself.
  • Leave out what you don’t need.
  • At the back, tables for the vet, the farrier, worming and vaccination, and weight.

For everything you do together

The diary has only days and lines, and note pages at the back instead of tables. You decide what goes in: the first canter off the lunge, the ride into the alpine valley, the day Flocke rolled in the mud. If you like, add a mood from ‘awful’ to ‘great’.

One book per horse, in a livery yard too

  • Every horse its own logbook, with its name on every page.
  • Who made the entry is there as initials on every day. Who comes when is in the ‘Who comes when’ plan at the front.
  • For the next horse you open a finished logbook, change the name and photo and create it again.
  • In the largest pack, a year for 25 horses costs CHF 35 – CHF 1.40 per horse.

For mules and donkeys too

The logbook doesn’t mind who’s in it. The scale is called whatever you like – coughing, lameness, appetite or whatever the vet wants you to watch – and so are the boxes. A mule on an old mule track, a pony in the field or the horse for the Sunday hack.

The book runs from the month you choose, for three, six or twelve months. Six fit the stabling season from October to March exactly.
